1966

I chose the City College of New York because of its academic reputation and the cost. My four years at CCNY left a very deep and positive impression on me. There were two history professors who deeply influenced my career, Bernard Bellush and Jim Watts. I became a history professor myself at the University of Vermont after completing my graduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I remained in close touch with each of those professors until their deaths. Socially I was an active member of both the House Plan Association and my specific House, Wittes '66. We have had a series of reunions and have established a scholarship. I also recently joined with another member who became a history teacher to establish a special scholarship for history majors at CCNY.
