Career Success

I had a marvelously positive educational and political experience at CCNY. I found classmates with whom I could engage, whether we agreed or not. I found faculty members who were absolutely open to the notion of my creating and selecting a liberal education without my having to say what I was going to work at. I did reasonably well. I was already married at the time that these things were going on and, to some extent, that was a real distraction because I was always rushing to get home. I was on the school newspaper for a while. I did all kinds of things with regards to the administration of my education. Getting a totally free rein to create my major and choose the courses I took was very important to me at that time. The existence of that piece of my education contributes every day. I graduated in 1968 and I went later to law school and I graduated from law school in 1978, but having a liberal arts education as a foundation is what made that possible.
