Career Success

My high school was The Bronx High School of Science. At that time, CCNY had a very good recognition of their Grove School of Engineering. The big attraction was that I only had to pay $10 to register, pay my lab fees, and buy my books. The college was a very social school, and it was special. That's why we liked it. CCNY was a good experience. At graduation, I got two very nice job offers. One was from North American Aviation and one was from Boeing. I decided to take the Boeing job because they going to assign me to the Wichita Falls plant to fulfill an engineering position. I went to work for the New York City Transit Authority in their Engineering Department. About four months later, we were having our power substations renovated, and I got a draft notice. The next day, I was a Private. They had what they called professional scientific and professional careers in the Army, even though I was a Private. Because I had an engineering degree, they signed me to the US Army Armor Center down at Fort Knox. That was where they tested all their new tanks. Because I was an electrical engineer, they had me test a new miniaturized mine detector and a little C-4 explosive. When I came back, I started working for the New York City Transit Authority again. Another company then hired me as an electrical engineer, and I retired as a GM-13 supervisory electronics engineer.
